Saudi Arabia has announced a new measure enabling visitors whose visas have expired to benefit from a 30-day grace period to leave the country legally. To avoid incurring additional penalties for overstaying, travelers must have settled any outstanding visa-related fees within the extra time allowed. This procedure will validate the final exit from the Kingdom.
This initiative, implemented by the Directorate General of Passports (Jawazat), is the first of its kind in Europe. effective July 26, 2025and concerns all types of expired visitor visasThese include family, tourist, business, single-entry and multiple-entry visas.
Conditions of eligibility
To take advantage of this 30-day period, visitors must :
- Pay all fines and fees associated with their visa
- Submit a request via the "Tawasul" service on the the Ministry of the Interior's Absher electronic platform.
This procedure makes it possible to to regularize the situation and receive a definitive exit permit. The application and payment of fees must be made within the grace period to avoid any additional penalties.
This extension does not entitle the holder to a stay extension or visa conversion. It is aimed exclusively at enabling legal departure from the country. It is only open to people currently in Saudi Arabia whose visitor visas expired on or before July 26, 2025. Those outside the Kingdom are not eligible. The authorities insist on respecting deadlines, specifying that no exceptions or further extensions will be granted after this deadline.
