Launch of the official "Visit Kuwait" portal to develop tourism, culture and entertainment

Since July, Kuwait has undergone a major change in its policy for welcoming travelers thanks to the introduction of the new "Kuwait Visa" digital platformlaunched by the French Ministry of the Interior. This system aims to simplify and speed up the issuance of tourist, family, business and government visas. This transformation is part of the national strategy to digitalize current procedures, in order to combine controlled openness, economic growth and national security.

Following on from this initiative, the Ministry is preparing to launch Visit Kuwait" official portal launched in early Novemberdedicated to local and international companies wishing to organize tourism, cultural, artistic or entertainment events in Kuwait. This new tool is designed to strengthen the role of the private sector in the country's events dynamic, complementing the visa platform to optimize the visitor flow management. All these measures are in line with the Kuwait Vision 2035aimed at establishing the country as a regional benchmark for the tourism, culture and entertainment.

Attract new visitors and energize sectors

Although the full impact will only be fully assessed in the medium term, several indicators already point to positive momentum in real estate, tourism and trade. The expansion of visa categories should stimulate demand in the hotel, restaurant and service industries, while generating new job opportunities. According to real estate specialist Qais Al-Ghanem, these are the hotel and tourism sectors which will benefit most quickly from this influx, while the impact on investment property will take several months to materialize.

According to Ibrahim Al-Awadhi, Chairman of the Real Estate Association, the regularity and stability of visa issuance will gradually increase occupancy rates and business activity, boosting the dynamism of hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. He reports that occupancy rates for investment properties currently stand at 87 %, with rents forecast to rise in the most sought-after areas, such as Salmiya and Hawalli, driven by the arrival of new visitors.

Obtaining a visa to travel to Kuwait is not yet a simple and straightforward process for all travelers. The launch of the electronic visa system since Kuwait Visa online platform is available for certain nationalities, including European citizens. A total of 53 nationalities are eligible for visa-on-arrival or electronic visa application (e-visa), provided they arrive by air and the trip does not exceed 3 months in the country.

Depending on the type of visa, the length of stay, validity and documents required may differ. Make sure you comply with the authorities' requirements to receive approval for your e-visa.

If you are not eligible, you are still required to apply for a regular visa at your nearest Kuwaiti embassy.

The digitization of the visa system is part of a clear commitment to economic diversification. By opening up new prospects for tourism and trade, the Kuwaiti government is banking on a more dynamic and attractive private sector, without overburdening public services.
