The 41 new entry points
The new list includes 4 airports, 11 land borders, and 26 seaports. This expansion is designed to diversify entry points stretching from north to south, with the aim of better accommodating international visitors.
Among the four new air entry points, here is the list of airports concerned :
- Long Thành International Airport
- Gia Bình International Airport
- Vinh International Airport
- Chu Lai International Airport
Long Thanh International Airport is scheduled to operate its first flight in 2026. The airports in Vinh (Nghe An) and Chu Lai (formerly Quang Nam) will allow tourists to access central heritage sites directly, without having to transit through major airports such as Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat. The addition of these border points to the e-visa will facilitate the development of direct flights.
The most significant deployment of the e-visa concerns 26 seaports. Cruise passengers, mainly from the United States, Europe, and Australia, are known for their high spending and demand for quick formalities. The widespread acceptance of e-visas in local seaports should therefore encourage shipping companies to add more stops to their trans-Vietnam itineraries. Here is the list of seaports concerned:
- Van Gia, Quang Ninh Province
- Diem Dien, Hung Yen Province
- Hai Thinh, Ninh Binh Province
- Ninh Binh, Ninh Binh Province
- Cua Lo – Ben Thuy, Nghe An Province

At the same time, the addition of 11 new land border crossing points . These crossings are mainly located in central and northern border provinces, which were previously rarely visited by international tourists due to complex visa procedures. Mr. Pham Hai Quynh, director of the Asian Institute of Tourism Development, anticipates that this policy will facilitate the influx of land tourists from Laos, Thailand, and China, thereby boosting the economy of border regions. Here is the list of land borders:

New features for travelers
The advantage of this expansion is the possibility of streamline visitor flow from the point of entry. The new immigration points allow travelers to land closer to their final destination (for example, a direct flight to Chu Lai for visitors wishing to travel to Hoi An). This distribution of traffic not only helps to relieve congestion in large cities, but also distributes tourism revenue more evenly at the local level, promoting more balanced socioeconomic development.
From a commercial standpoint, expanding the network allows travel agencies to create more diverse and multimodal routes. Options such as flying to Vinh, traveling by road to Laos, then returning to Vietnam via another border crossing using the same e-visa (which allows multiple entries and exits over 90 days) will become more attractive. High-end tourists seeking privacy and unique experiences are considered the main beneficiaries, as they will have easier access to unspoiled regions via charter flights or private yachts.
Synchronization of infrastructure and human resources remains an issue to be addressed by each local authority, particularly with regard to passport scanning systems, data transmission, and e-visa processing software at newly added border posts.
With this extension, Vietnam now has the most open visa policy in the region, rivalling Thailand and Malaysia.
