Yemen takes a major step forward with the official launch of a electronic visa system (e-Visa)designed to facilitate the entry of foreign travelers, whether tourists or professionals. This electronic visa project has been under study since 2021 (our previous article), and has been in force since June 2025.
A single portal for online requests
The official platform yemenevisa.org now allows travellers to drop off their online visa application. This new online service covers several visa categories:
- Tourism (individuals and groups)
- Business
- Diplomatic
- Work
- Transit
The route will no longer require travel to a Yemeni embassy or consulate, simplifying access to the country even in a tense international context or with limited consular services.

Advantages of the e-Visa system
- Modernization and speed : 85% of administrative processing is now automated, enabling a significant reduction in delays and manual procedures.
- Digitization The entire procedure is carried out online, from the submission of documents (passport valid for at least 180 days, return ticket, medical certificate, supporting documents appropriate to the reason for stay) to receipt of the e-Visa by e-mail within 3 to 5 working days of validation of the application.
- Enhanced safety : The system incorporates controls to combat fraud, while ensuring that all applications are subject to standard security checks.
- Various entry points e-Visa applies at all border crossings: airports, seaports and land borders.
A modern, international project
This program, supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United States and regional players, reflects the government's strategy of aligning entry procedures and border management. The decision also aims to boost the national economy through tourism and international trade.
