If you have recently planned a tourist trip to India, you may have experienced a particular anxiety: having your plane tickets in your pocket for months, your hotel booked, but being formally prohibited from applying for your visa. Until very recently, this was the absurd paradox of the “30-day tourist e-Visa“.
For those of you who are used to entrusting your procedures to our specialized agency to avoid any stress, here is why the old system was such a headache and why the recent reform is excellent news.
The problem: having to wait until the last minute
The crux of the problem lay in a very strict calendar rule. India offers a 30-day tourist visa (the most economical and common for vacations), but until December 18, the authorities imposed a major constraint: it was technically impossible to submit the application more than 30 days before the date of arrival in India.
Imagine the situation You plan your trip six months in advance. You want to complete all the formalities so you can relax. But your visa agency or you yourself were blocked by the Indian computer system. You had to wait until the “fateful month” before departure to finally click “send,” at the risk of ending up with a visa that only allowed you to enter during the wrong entry date range.
Many travelers resorted to the 1-year e-Tourist visa, which was much more expensive but allowed them to submit their application well in advance of their trip.
The hidden risk: longer processing times
This reduced 30-day window became dangerous at the end of 2025. Why? Because processing times have lengthened. Many travelers kept in mind the idea that Indian visas could be obtained in 72 hours. That is no longer the case. Since the end of 2025, the Indian government no longer processes applications within a guaranteed three days.
The good news came on December 18, 2025. India has finally corrected this anomaly. From now on, for a 30-day e-Visa, you can submit your application up to 120 days (4 months) before your arrival in India.

With this reform, entrusting your application to an agency makes perfect sense. Previously, even an agency could not do anything for you before the 30-day deadline. Now, as soon as you have decided on your trip, you can send your documents (passport, photo) to Visamundi.
We can then:
– Check that your photo complies with the requirements (the number one reason for rejection).
– Submit your application immediately, well before the rush of departures.
– Manage any bugs on the official website or requests for additional documents without worrying about your flight date passing.
