Kazakhstan inaugurates the «QazETA» platform for foreigners

Kazakhstan is taking another step towards modernizing its public services with the launch on January 23, 2026 of the QazETA, a government digital platform for foreign nationals. Currently in pilot phase, The aim of the project is to provide convenient, transparent and secure access to migration services on a «one-stop shop» basis.

A single digital entry point

QazETA's main objective is to simplify entry and residence procedures in Kazakhstan by creating a single interface for all interactions between foreigners and government authorities. This initiative aims not only to improve the quality and efficiency of public services, but also to increase transparency and reduce processing times, thanks to a mobile application.

3 key services available now

Although full rollout is planned in stages, three major services are already available via the mobile app:

  • The electronic visa (e-Visa) : Citizens of 109 countries can now apply for a single-entry visa for a variety of categories, including tourism, business, medical care, or the «Digital Nomad Visa». This visa, issued on the basis of an electronic invitation, allows entry and exit only via border control points at the country's international airports.
    • Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA): Intended for citizens of visa-exempt countries, this authorization must be requested via the application no later than 72 hours before travel. Valid for 180 days, the ETA does not guarantee entry, as the final decision rests with the migration authorities. During the pilot phase, obtaining ETA is recommended but not compulsory; it will gradually become so thereafter.. Visa-exempt nationals can travel without a visa, for stays of up to 30 days. The authorities have reinstated the visa-free regime for 54 countries, including European nationals.
    • The e-Residency: This innovative feature enables foreigners located outside Kazakhstan to access services at the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), such as opening bank accounts, obtaining an Individual Identification Number (IIN) or registering a business remotely.

For future requests, we advise you to use the mobile application.

      Perspectives and accessibility

The QazETA application is now available for download from Google Play And the App Store. The authorities plan to expand the platform's functionalities in the near future, notably with the issuance of health insurance and the introduction of Fast Track border crossing for ETA holders.

A technical support service has been set up to assist users during this launch phase.

Depending on your nationality and the duration of your trip, you can use the application to check whether you are visa-exempt or eligible for e-Visa or ETA.
