This Friday, October 31, 2025, Sri Lanka has removed the requirement for foreign tourists to obtain an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization). Sri Lanka's Ministry of Immigration and Emigration has published a official communiquรฉvia their website. The authorities had recently communicated in early October 2025, to require all foreign nationals to obtain the ETA, prior to departure and arrival in Sri Lanka. This decision has now been revoked.

Is it still possible to obtain ETA?
The electronic travel authorization is designed to facilitate your entry formalities when you arrive in France. To avoid waiting time at airport immigration, it may be advisable to apply for an apply online before you leave. The online form requires you to fill in a number of details, such as your passport details, contact details and travel information.
It is no longer compulsory to obtain an ETA prior to departure for a trip to Sri Lanka. However, you can still apply online, if you are traveling for tourism or business. This does not mean that online consular services have been suspended. The official platform eta.gov.lk/slvisa is always available.
ETA Sri Lanka is a a quick, easy, streamlined process. The online form is simple, with very little information to complete. What's more, approval can be obtained immediately, and is sent to the e-mail address given at the time of your request. If you choose ETA tourism 30 daysWith this option, you'll be able to enter the country twice, for a period of 6 months. For a single entry, we recommend this option, to ensure a smooth border crossing!
