Trinidad and Tobago: Immigration forms go digital

It's a small revolution for travelers to the Caribbean. If you've ever traveled to Trinidad and Tobago, You're probably familiar with this tedious moment: the distribution of the famous little paper immigration cards by the flight attendants, just before landing at Piarco international airport.

Good news! The Ministry of Internal Security of Trinidad and Tobago has just announced complete digitization of arrival and departure maps. The official platform is scheduled to go live on March 10, 2026.

Press release issued by the Ministry of Internal Security of Trinidad and Tobago

Changes as of March 10, 2026

The government has confirmed the launch of its new โ€œOnline Arrival and Departure Cardโ€ electronic platform. This measure is part of a global drive by Caribbean countries to modernize border management and reduce customs queues. Currently, a paper form has to be filled in manually on the plane or boat. As of next Tuesday, it will be mandatory to complete an online declaration before departure.

This new formality concerns absolutely all travellers, Whether they are international tourists, business travelers or returning Trinidadian nationals. In addition, it applies equally to theโ€™entrance on the territory than for the output.

How does the new Trinidad and Tobago e-Formular work?

The procedure is designed to run more smoothly, but it does require a little forethought. To this end, the official platform of the TTDAC Trinidad and Tobago Digital Arrival Card will be available from March 10, 2026. Here are the 3 key steps imposed by the authorities :

1. The strict 72-hour time limit
You cannot fill in this form months in advance. The platform only accepts declarations within a maximum period of 72 hours before your arrival (or your departure) to Trinidad and Tobago.

2. Account creation and passport upload
To begin the process, the government requires you to create an online profile. No need to manually enter all your information: the system will ask you to upload a clear photo of the biometric page of your passport (the page with your photo). The system will automatically fill in your data.

3. Receiving the QR Code
Once the form has been validated, you will receive a digital receipt by e-mail containing a Unique QR Code.
Our recommendation: Register this QR Code on your smartphone (in your photos or Wallet app) and print it out on paper. You'll need to present it to immigration officers on arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does this digital form replace the Trinidad and Tobago visa? No. The arrival/departure form is a compulsory customs and health declaration for all travelers. If your nationality requires a visa to enter Trinidad and Tobago, you must always obtain one first.

Do I also have to fill out a form to leave Trinidad and Tobago? Yes, the new digital system requires not only an electronic declaration of arrival, but also a declaration of departure before leaving the country.

What happens if I forget to fill it in before my flight? Airlines may deny you boarding if you cannot present your immigration QR Code. It is imperative that you generate it before arriving at the airport.
