The deployment of the ETA for the Channel Islands follows a precise timetable:
April 9, 2026: Official opening of online applications for travelers going directly to the islands.
April 23, 2026: ETA becomes mandatory for all direct journeys (ferry or plane) from abroad to Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
Good to know: If your journey takes you through London or another UK city, the ETA system has already applied to you since February 2026.
Who should apply for ETA?
The ETA is not a visa, but a prior digital travel authorization. It applies to short-stay visa-exempt nationals, including Europeans and many other nationalities.

-You are a citizen of the European Union (French, Belgian, Swiss, etc.).
-You are traveling with a passport from a third country benefiting from visa exemption for the UK.
-You are planning a tourist or business stay of less than 6 months.

-You already own a British visa (work, studies, family).
