Isle of Man

From April 23, 2026, the Isle of Man will introduce its ownโ€™Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to harmonize its border controls with those of the UK and other jurisdictions in the Common Travel Area (Common Travel Area).ย

This digital system, which is becoming compulsory for direct entry to the Isle of Man, is aimed at foreign nationals who do not require a visa for short-term stays.

Enhanced safety without compromising mobility

The introduction of AElectronic Travel Authorization (ETA) on the Isle of Man is part of a border security initiative shared with the United Kingdom, Jersey and Guernsey. This digital device is not a visa, but a mutually recognized permission to travel between these jurisdictions.

  • Objective
Strengthen national security while ensuring smooth travel within the Common Travel Area (CTA), including the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland.
  • Continuity
For exempted travellers, travel arrangements between the Isle of Man and its neighbors (notably the UK) remain unchanged, with no systematic immigration controls re-introduced.

Eligible travellers and conditions

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is intended exclusively for nationals of countries not requiring a visa (โ€œnon-visa nationalsโ€) who wish to visit the island for a tourist, family or professional stay of six months maximum.

Fromโ€™april 2026, this authorization becomes strictly compulsory for all travellers, including children and infants

The arrangements are modelled on those in the United Kingdom: the cost is set at 20 ยฃ and the authorization remains valid for 2 years (or until the associated passport expires). Note that the ETA is digitally linked to your travel document; if you change your passport, you must submit a new application.
