The new Canadian passport introduced by the federal government will focus more on Canada's natural beauty and less on its historical significance and iconic sites. The redesign took 10 years to complete.

In the new brochure, illustrations of bears, narwhals and owls will replace photos of people, and photos of people enjoying outdoor activities, such as children diving into a lake, will replace photos of structures.
The designers also added a giant maple leaf to the cover, complementing the coat of arms previously featured on passport covers. The new booklet features advanced security features to better protect the identity of Canadians. A kinegram will be added to the passport's main photo to make life even more difficult for counterfeiters.
It will feature, for example, a polycarbonate data page that integrates a microcontroller chip into the body of the page, a technology that is currently present in the country's driving licenses. Holder information will now be laser-engraved, rather than printed.
The Canadian passport is one of the top 10 most powerful passports. It allows visa-free travel to over 140 countries. It was even voted one of the 10 most beautiful passports in the world last March by Condé Nast Traveller !
