Morocco officially launched its electronic visa on July 10.
"The launch [of the electronic visa], [...], aims to simplify and modernize consular services, in accordance with the High Royal Orientations".said Fouad Kadmiri, Director of Consular and Social Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Resident Abroad.
The aim of this new procedure is to make it easier for foreign nationals subject to this formality to obtain a travel document. Today, 49 countries are concerned.
This new measure has been put in place in accordance with the Very High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to improving and digitizing Moroccan consular services.
This is a simplified, highly secure procedure because data are protected by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It's fast, and allows travelers to start the process remotely and receive their visa by e-mail.
This Moroccan electronic visa will be valid for 30 days, with the possibility of extension for up to 6 months, with multiple entries.
Three categories of foreign nationals will benefit from the "e-Visa":
- nationals of certain countries, the list of which is defined by the competent Moroccan authorities (Thailand and Israel as a first step);
- foreign nationals holding a residence or stay permit valid for at least 180 days on the date of submission of the e-visa application, and residing in the European Union, the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Norway, New Zealand or Switzerland;
- foreign nationals holding one of the non-electronic visas of Schengen countries, the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland or New Zealand, with multiple entries and valid for at least 90 days at the date of submission of the e-visa application.
