Mozambique announced, on May 16, 2025, immediate and temporary suspension of the obligation for travelers from 29 visa-exempt countries to check in at least 48 hours before arriving in France. However, technical problems affecting the electronic check-in platform have prevented the normal operation of the system and the submission of data by users. Faced with these difficulties, the National Migration Service (SENAMI) has decided to temporarily suspend this requirement in order to guarantee travellers' rights and ensure continuity of services.
The 29 nationalities concerned
Many African, European, Asian and American nationals are temporarily exempt from the requirement to apply for ETA before traveling, and will be able to stay for up to 30 days:
- Africa Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal
- Europe Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom
- Asia China, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea
- Middle East Israel, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates
- North America United States, Canada
During this period of suspension, nationals of the 29 countries concerned can continue to enter Mozambique without having to apply for a prior Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)..
Most other travelers already benefit from a visa exemption for a 90-day stay, or can apply for a visa on arrival. You can consult the official portal https://www.evisa.gov.mz/ if you would like to find out whether you are eligible for e-Visa.
A temporary suspension
SENAMI specifies that the measure will be reactivated as soon as technical conditions allow the system to function properly, and thata new official communication will be issued at that time.
The Mozambican government thus reaffirms its commitment to facilitating tourism and guaranteeing the efficiency, accessibility and security of its immigration services.
