At present, Iran already waives visa requirements for nationals of certain countries, such as Turkey, Armenia, Oman and Syria. Iran also allows French tourists to obtain a visa on arrival in the country. it is advisable to apply for a visa before departure.
It is important to note that travel to Iran is "not recommended"French diplomatic efforts have been hampered by the unstable security situation.
Due to demonstrations and rallies that have taken place since the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022, the French government strongly advises all travelers, including French citizens and dual nationals, not to visit Iran. It is therefore essential to take this information into account when planning any trip to Iran, even if visa requirements have been waived for nationals of certain countries.
The parallel with Russia, which had launched the idea of boosting its tourism in the midst of the international crisiscan be envisaged.
