Belarusian State Electronic Service Center opts for electronic visas
NCES (National Center Electronics Services) has announced the launch of the electronic visa issuance service. This was all part of the 28th edition of the TIBO 2022 forum held in Minsk.
This electronic visa issuance service will be available from third quarter 2022. This is in line with the action plan implemented by the e-Visa issuance project. This decision was approved in the minutes of the working group responsible for drafting the proposed organization of the e-Visa system.
Automation of procedures for issuing "single-entry" short-stay visas
The process of issuing short-term "single-entry" C visas to foreign nationals will be automated. As stated by experts from the Belarusian National Center for Electronic Services. Foreign tourists need only apply for a visa online via an electronic services portal dedicated to this purpose. This request must be paid via the ASSIST system using a Visa or Mastercard debit card.
After validation of the request, the e-Visa will be sent to the applicant's personal account. You can then download it from the service's official website. This will be necessary, as it must be presented before crossing the border into Belarus.
Type of e-Visa available
There is currently very little information available on the different methods of obtaining an electronic visa for Belarus. However, we do know that C" visa applicants will soon be able to apply for electronic visas over the Internet. Single, double or multiple entries are currently authorized, and are valid for a maximum period of 3 months. Please note that e-visas allow only one entry.
Holders of short-term "C" visas can travel for tourism or business. Holders of this type of visa can also stay for a variety of purposes. These may include scientific or cultural activities.
French and European tourists can also visa-free visits to Belarus for up to 30 days. However, they must enter and leave the country from Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno and Mogilev airports. However, they must not come from or go directly to Russia. We look forward to hearing more about this new e-Visa in the coming weeks.
Health restrictions on entering Belarus
Since April 3, 2022, there has been no more restrictions on entry and exit of Belarusian territory. This applies to both Belarusian nationals and foreign travellers. In addition, PCR tests or proof of vaccination are no longer required, as of May 28, 2022. As a result, international travelers can re-enter the country without vaccination or proof of pre-departure testing.
