Kannur airport opts for e-Visa
Kannur international airport is the 29th airport to allow entry to India via an electronic visa. It now completes the list of airports in the Kerala region offering an e-visa system. These are Calicut, Cochin and Trivandrum airports.
In terms of organization, the operations manager specified that passengers will use a separate immigration queue. Screening for travelers with electronic visas will therefore be different from that for those with ordinary visas.
How to travel to India
European tourists or business travelers need to have a visa to enter India. This can be obtained from Indian embassies, consulates or visa centers. You can do this in just a few clicks on the Internet, thanks to the electronic visa granting system.
However, travelers from France are still required to provide a negative PCR test. This must be done within 72 hours of departure. There have been a few relaxations, such as the lifting of quarantines since February 14, 2022. However, since June 1, 2022, 117 countries have been exempted from this screening measure.
In addition, prior to departure, travellers must fill out a self-health declaration form. This can be done by downloading a Covid-19 negative certificate from the Indian government portal Air Suvidha. You can also download full vaccination certificates for nationals of test-exempt countries.
The different electronic visas available
The citizens of 157 countries are currently eligible for an Indian e-visa. These include nationals of France, Belgium, Switzerland and all other European countries. When applying for a visa online, applicants must complete a questionnaire. They are required to upload a copy of their passport information page and photo ID.
What's more, the price of an e-visa for India is based on the type of trip and the period of travel. Here are some examples, a simple 30-day tourist visa costs around $10 between April and June. For other months, however, the same type of visa costs 25 dollars.
For those looking for a 180-day multiple-entry business visayou will have to pay approximately 80 dollars. For a medical travelyou have to pay 80 dollars to use it for approximately 120 days.
What are the conditions for leaving India?
Travellers wishing to leave Indian territory must complete a self-declaration of health form. You can download it from the government's electronic portal. It is advisable to check regularly with health authorities for the latest information on applicable health protocols. This will enable you to keep abreast of developments in the global pandemic situation.
