The Ethiopian government has announced the suspension of visas on arrival for non-resident foreigners at all points of entry into the country, due to security concerns and the current political situation in the country.

The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement on Thursday, while advising Nigerians with standard passports intending to travel to Ethiopia to obtain an appropriate entry visa from the Ethiopian embassy or an electronic visa (e-Visa) via the portal of the country's immigration and citizenship service. According to the Ministry, the Ethiopian authorities have explained that this measure is aimed at better controlling the movement of people into Ethiopia, given the ongoing armed conflict in the north of the country.
