The Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, has announced that the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will implement a unified tourist visa within two yearsallowing visa holders to travel throughout the six Gulf countries.
An initiative integrated into the GCC Tourism Strategy 2030
This strategic decision enables the UAE to prepare and equip itself for integration with other GCC members as soon as the unified tourist visa is fully activated. The aim is to offer an attractive tourism product to attract international visitors to the Arabian Gulf region.
The initiative includes the development of a common visa among the six GCC member countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Objective reach 128.7 million visitors by 2030
This visa was approved at the 7th meeting of tourism ministers recently held in Oman. The next steps involve discussions on the procedures for implementing this visa, with the aim of deployment between 2024 and 2025 depending on the readiness of member countries.
Promoting the Gulf's tourist attractions
One of the aims of this strategy is to promote our many tourist attractions spread across the GCC member countries. There are a total of 837 tourist sites in these countries, including 399 in the United Arab Emirates alone.
