This project had been announced in 2020, before the Covid-19 health crisis, so that this new product would see the light of day in spring 2022. Finally, the Israeli e-visa should be launched by the end of 2023.. Following several working meetings, the Israeli authorities have made progress on this project.
This new procedure will make it easier for tourists to visit Israel. It has been revealed that the procedure for obtaining visas and checks at maritime border crossings can be complicated for tourists. The aim of this new electronic visa, or e-Visa, is to improve entry conditions.
Currently, international travelers apply for a visa at an Israeli embassy or consulate. However, this requires the traveler to physically go to the nearest immigration office. Processing times are also fairly long. The procedure is carried out before departure, and must be well anticipated.
Moshe Arbel, Israel's Minister of Tourism, declared: "By the end of the year, with the Minister of Tourism, there will be an electronic visa and we will open up the economy".
With e-Visa, the process will be easier and can be completed online. Travelers must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Israel. On arrival, the authorities no longer stamp the passports of international visitors. A blue paper sticker is issued to each visitor, and must be retained for the duration of the stay.
French and European citizens do not need a visa to enter Israel. For these travelers, it is possible to travel to Israel for 3 months without an e-Visa or a regular visa. Over 101 countries are also visa-free.
