On August 14, 2024, the Moroccan government announced the reinstatement of a visa requirement for Ivorian nationals wishing to travel to Morocco from September 1, 2024. This decision, taken in consultation with the Ivorian authorities, is part of a strategy to reinforce control of migratory flows and combat identity theft.
Measure duration and objectives
The reintroduction of the visa requirement is scheduled to last for one year. 2-year trial period. The Ivorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Living Abroad explained that the main aim of this measure is to :
- Enhancing the credibility of the Ivorian passport on the international stage
- Combating identity theft and fraudulent use of Ivorian documents
- Improving the management of migration flows between Cรดte d'Ivoire and Morocco
Categories of exempt travellers
The Ivorian Ministry has made it clear that certain categories of travelers are exempt from this new visa requirement. These exemptions concern :
- Ivorians holding diplomatic or service passports
- Moroccan residence permit holders
- Beneficiaries of Schengen, United Arab Emirates, United States or Canadian visas

Practical details
For Ivorian nationals requiring a visa, the application procedure must be carried out at the following offices Moroccan diplomatic representations in Cรดte d'Ivoire. Applicants must provide the following documents:
- A valid passport
- A completed visa application form
- Proof of reservation of accommodation in Morocco
- A round-trip plane ticket
- Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay
Costs and lead times
The cost of a Moroccan visa for Ivorian nationals has been set at 14,000 FCFA (21 €) for a single-entry visa and FCFA 22,000 (34 €) for a multi-entry visa.
Application processing times may vary, but it is recommended to apply at least 2 weeks before the planned date of travel.

Nationals of the following countries can apply for an e-Visa for Morocco:
- Thailand
- Israel
- Azerbaijan
- Guatemala
- India
- Jordan
In addition, nationals of other countries may be eligible for e-Visa if they meet certain conditions, including:
- Holders of a valid residence permit in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Norway or New Zealand.
- Holders of a valid visa for the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen zone, Australia, Canada, Ireland or New Zealand.
