As of April 1, 2024, Japan has added Indians and foreign nationals residing in India to those eligible for an e-visa. With this visa, travelers can discover the country for up to 90 days.

An easier procedure for obtaining an eVisa
To facilitate the process of obtaining an eVisa, applicants must submit their "notice of visa issuanceYou will be able to download the "Travel Notice" onto a mobile device at the airport, upon arrival in Japan or upon boarding with the airline. Internet access is required for this step, and submission of the notice as a PDF, photo, screenshot or printout will not be accepted.

What documents do I need to apply for a Japanese eVisa?
Indian travelers wishing to obtain a Japanese eVisa must provide certain documents to prove their eligibility. The documents required are :
- A passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry into Japan
- A recent passport photo complying with ICAO standards
- Proof of accommodation reservation or letter of invitation
- Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay
- Round-trip air ticket or confirmed itinerary
