The Tourism e-Visa is now available for stays of 60 consecutive days. This new feature facilitates travel formalities for international visitors. Visa applications can now be processed online. It is no longer necessary to visit an immigration office.
The electronic tourist visa is evolving
Previously, you could apply for a Tourist e-Visa before your departure, for a 30-day stay in the country. You could extend your visa for a further 30 days by visiting an immigration office on arrival in Indonesia.
As of January 26, 2023, you can now make a online tourist visa application and this travel authorization will be valid for 60 consecutive days on the territory. Two advantages of this new tourism e-Visa: you don't have to extend it on the spot, and you don't have to have a local sponsor. The tourism and investment sectors are expected to grow over the next few years as a result of this development on the part of Indonesian immigration.
Currently, 87 nationalities, including EU citizens, are eligible to apply for this electronic visa. We advise you to check carefully whether you are entering via the airports, seaports and land border crossings defined by the authorities. The fee for an e-Visa tourism application is Rp 1,500,000, or around €93.
The e-Visa On Arrival or e-VOA is still valid
It is still possible to apply for an e-VOA, which allows you to stay in the country for 30 days. On arrival, you would have to go to an immigration office to extend it if necessary. Now you can extend your visa online. The cost of this visa is Rp 500,000 or about €31.
Which e-Visa should you choose?
You can choose between two electronic visas, and applications can be made for a number of different travel purposes, such as tourism, business or transit. Once your visa has been approved, you have 90 days to enter Indonesia. It is valid for a single entry into the country.
- Tourism e-visa allows you to stay in the country for 60 consecutive days. We recommend it more for travellers wishing to go sightseeing. Most of the time, the stay is organized and of long duration.
- e-VOA or Visa On Arrival can be requested for short-term tourist stays or for business travelers. It is valid for a 30-day stay, with the possibility of an online visa extension from the official website or government portal. All you need is a smartphone or computer and an internet connection to complete the visa extension process.
