As part of this new drive to promote tourism, the question of conditions for entering Mongolia was discussed. Today, 36 nationalities can obtain an electronic visa within a maximum of 72 hours. This travel authorization can allow you to enter the country for a tourist stayparticipation in a cultural or sporting event or a transit. Soon, 60 nationalities should be eligible to obtain this e-Visa. The time required to obtain a visa will be reduced from 72 to 48 hours. This is a new development for Mongolia, as it will facilitate travel formalities and bring the country into line with other countries where e-Visa is widely available. Previously, travelers had to go to a diplomatic mission to apply for a visa.

To date, 36 nationalities are eligible including most European countries, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and China. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, many French, Korean and British citizens were applying for e-Visa. Since the reopening of borders and the lifting of sanitary restrictions, the French represent the majority of international travelers, and are said to have requested the most e-Visas for Mongolia.
