Less than two weeks after suspend tourist visa applicationsthe government has announced the eVisa service resumes on April 22. This decision follows the resolution of technical problems caused by the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28.

Burmese authorities
It should be noted that business visas were not suspended, unlike tourist visas, which were interrupted on April 3. Burma's speedy restoration of this essential service is a testament to its resilience in the face of economic challenges and earthquake damage.
Conditions for obtaining a Burmese tourist visa
Foreign travellers wishing to visit Myanmar can now submit their tourist visa application via the government's official eVisa portalsimplifying the procedure.
- Application fees 50 $ for a 28-day tourist stay.
- Required documents :
- Passport valid at least 6 months after date of entry.
- Recent color photo (4.6 cm x 3.8 cm, taken within the last 3 months).
- Proof of return ticket (or travel plan for entry via Kawthaung border crossing).
- Proof of accommodation reservation or stay on a boat (tourists must stay in registered establishments).
- Payment by Visa, MasterCard or JCB.
The eVisa is available to from 100 countries. We recommend that you check the list of eligible countries on the official portal before submitting your application. Travelers from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao are also eligible. Please note: the eVisa is not valid for cruise arrivals; in this case, you must apply for a "pre-arranged visa" via your travel agency or cruise line.
Practical information on eVisa processing
Once the application and payment have been submitted, a confirmation email is sent. Visit processing time is about 3 days. The application fee is non-refundable. The eVisa approval letter is valid for 90 days from date of issue entry to Myanmar will be refused if this time limit is exceeded.
Because of the damage caused by the March 28 earthquake, particularly in the Mandalay region, and the context of civil conflict, certain areas remain off-limits to foreign travellers. It is advisable to consult the official government website for the latest recommendations and restrictions.
