Travelling to Cuba on July 1, 2025: electronic visa (e-Visa) or tourist card?

The Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) has issued essential information via its official social networks as the new mandatory electronic visa for certain travelers to Cuba approaches. As of July this year, all travelers wishing to visit Cuba for tourism purposes will need to obtain a electronic visa via the official platform evisacuba.cu.

Tourist cards to be replaced by e-Visa

This new system replaces the old physical tourist mapwhich will no longer be issued. However, cards already issued will remain valid until December 31, 2025 according to MINTUR, which clarified the measure on June 25..

THE electronic tourist visa authorizes single entry on Cuban territory and allows stay of up to 90 dayswith the option of requesting an extension. In addition to the visa, each traveler must complete the mandatory form available on the dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu before departure.

If you arrive in Cuba by sea, you'll need to contact a consular office.

The electronic visa procedure (e-Visa)

This modernization aims to simplify and speed up entry formalities, bringing Cuba into line with international practices in the digitization of migration services.

Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) has launched a new electronic system for managing tourist visas. Thanks to this platform, applicants can complete their procedures online. The form to be completed consists of entering your personal details. Your payment will be sent to the embassy or consulate closest to your place of residence. Means of payment may vary according to each embassy or consulate, and the procedure will be indicated at the beginning of the form. A reply will be sent to you within 72 hours. The fee for an e-Visa application is โ‚ฌ22.

From July 01, it will be compulsory for all tourists to obtain an electronic visa before arriving in Cuba. The new card is valid until the end of 2025, except for holders of the physical tourist card. This change is part of the Cuban authorities' drive to modernize and secure access to the country.
