A number of travel formalities need to be taken into account before you leave, and it's important to seek advice from tourism professionals to prepare for your stay in the best possible way. Here are a few tips!ย
Apply for a visa before you arrive
To travel to Saudi Arabia, and for most European citizens, a visa is required. e-Visa application can be made online. Our agency can help you with the process and forward your request to the Saudi authorities. Your request may be for a tourist, business or event stay, or for the Umrah pilgrimage.
What documents are required?
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Saudi Arabia.
- A passport photo in color and easy to read.
How can I check if I am eligible for e-Visa?
You can find all the nationalities eligible for e-Visa on our website.
What are the particularities of applying for an e-Visa Omra?
When making your request, you will have the option of specifying the Umrah pilgrimage as the reason for your trip. As soon as we receive your documents, we will forward your application to the authorities. On the other hand, if you apply for an e-Visa for Umrah, the reason for travel will be tourism. You can still travel to Saudi Arabia with your e-Visa approved by the Saudi authorities. You will be authorized to enter the country for Umrah upon presentation of this official travel authorization.
What places can I visit to perform Umrah?
With an Omra e-Visa, all holy sites can be visited at any time of the year, except during the Hajj pilgrimage. We recommend that you check with a tourism professional, a local tourist office or a Saudi embassy whether you are eligible to visit any of these places with the e-Visa you have applied for. Certain rituals may not be performed depending on the travel authorization approved by the Saudi authorities.
Here are the 3 holy places not to be missed on your Umrah pilgrimage:
- The Masjid al-Haram: Mecca's largest sacred mosque
- Al Safa Wal Marwah: a 3km walk that takes you to the Zamzam water spring.
- Abd el Aziz: path leading to the Haram temple.
Zamzam water is now only available to travelers who have obtained an Omra or Hajj visa from an embassy.
If you wish to perform the religious pilgrimage of Umrah and benefit from the virtues of this sacred water, you must apply for a visa from a Saudi embassy/consulate in order to request an Umrah or Hajj visa. With this travel authorization, you'll be able to visit all the holy sites, without restrictions, and you'll also be able to drink Zamzam water. For all travelers, it is forbidden to carry bottled water back to your home country.
