Nationals of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) can now travel to Cameroon without having to apply for a visa. This decision concerns citizens of Congofrom Gabonthe Equatorial Guineathe Central African Republic and Chad.
Visa exemption certificate for CEMAC nationals
In order to formalize this new provision, the persons concerned will have to obtain a visa exemption certificate. This document will be issued by the Cameroonian embassy in France, and will enable beneficiaries to travel freely in Cameroon without fear of administrative complications.
What is CEMAC?
The Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) was created in 1994 to promote the economic and monetary integration of these countries.
CEMAC is made up of two main institutions: theCentral African Monetary Union (UMAC)which is responsible for managing the CFA franc, the common currency of the member countries, and theCentral African Economic Union (UEAC)Its mission is to harmonize the regulations in force in the member states in order to facilitate trade and the convergence of economic policies.
What about Switzerland?
In addition to the CEMAC countries, the Swiss citizens holding an official passport (diplomatic or service) will also be able to benefit from this visa exemption.
The e-Visa for Cameroon is a electronic visa which enables nationals of around 150 countries to travel to Cameroon without having to go to a consulate or embassy. It allows one or more entries for stays of 90 days maximum.
