Egypt to extend a free 96-hour transit visa until the end of April 2026This new service allows travellers stopping over at the country's international airports to discover Egypt free of charge and without complex formalities.
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly recently announcedon April 23, at an official meeting, the extension of this measure, which is still relevant today.
The Cabinet has approved the free extension of the transit visa (96 hours) for a further year, until the end of April 2026, with the same controls currently in force.

A measure to boost tourism
This formality, launched in June 2023is designed to boost tourism, increase the number of visitors and reinforce Egypt's position as an air crossroads between Europe, Africa and Asia. Which travellers are eligible?

Travel with an Egyptian airline: the free transit visa is available only to travelers using an Egyptian airline (EgyptAir, Air Cairo or Nile Air).
Be eligible for a visa on arrival: the traveler's nationality must allow a visa to be obtained on arrival. European, American, Canadian, Australian and British nationals can benefit from a free transit visa.
Valid passport : Passports must be valid for at least six months after the date of entry.
