India adds a new entry point for international travelers holding an e-visa. As of December 29, 2023, India's Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in Indore is now accessible with this type of visa to facilitate access for visitors and stimulate local tourism.
New option for holders of electronic visas
Shankar Lalwanimember of Parliament and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Indore, has announced that Devi Ahilyabai International Airport is now authorized to accept passengers traveling on electronic visas. Indore is the largest city in Madhya Pradesh.
For those wishing to travel to India with their e-visa, they also have the option of using one of the following channels 30 other international airports of the country : Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru (Bangalore), Bhubaneswar, Mumbai (Bombay), Calicut (Kozhikode), Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin (Kochi), Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kannur, Kolkata (Calcutta), Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Nagpur, Port Blair, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam
There are also 5 seaports allowing entry to India with an electronic visa: Chennai, Cochin, Mormugao, Mumbai and New Mangalore.
The president of the Federation of Travel Agents of India in Madhya Pradesh, TK Josesaid that this new e-Visa facility would be particularly advantageous for business travellers who often have last-minute trips. In addition, its international flights to Dubai and Sharjah should stimulate local economic development.
DigiYatra: a stress-free, paperless airport experience
The application DigiYatraavailable on iOS and Android, uses facial recognition to facilitate terminal entry and improve airport security in a simple, paperless way by storing traveler identity documents. Launched by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the DigiYatra Foundation, this initiative is part of the drive to create a digitally connected society.
In the way it works, it copies the Trip.PASS application recently unveiled by South Korea.
