Thailand: Tourists exempt from entry and exit forms until October 15

This was already the case when entering Thailand from Malaysia The Thai government has recently announced the extension of its temporary exemption from the TM.6 form, also known as the "arrival and departure map"This is a must for all tourists entering or leaving the country, between April 15 and October 15, 2024.

What is form TM.6?

This document is used by local authorities to collect information about foreign visitors for national security purposes. It contains data such as traveler's namehis nationality, l'accommodation address in Thailand and the expected length of stay. Thanks to this exemption, tourists will not have to fill in these forms when passing through the country's border checkpoints.

What does this mean for foreign visitors?

Thanks to this temporary exemption from form TM.6, tourists benefit from simplified procedures for entering and leaving Thailand in the following respects:

• 8 terrestrial : Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaeo, Muang district in Mukdahan, Muang district in Nong Khai, Chiang Saen in Chiang Rai, Padang Besar And Sadao in Songkhla, Sungai Kolok in Narathiwat and Betong in Yala
• 8 marine : Pattaya, Sri Racha And Sichang in Chon Buri, Map Ta Phut in Rayong, Samui in Surat Thani, Phuket, Surat Thani And Krabi

This measure reflects the government's desire to facilitate access to the country for foreign visitors.

Reinforced monitoring after the exemption period

Thai security agencies are responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of this exemption once the 6-month period has elapsed. The results of this evaluation will determine whether the measure should be maintained, modified or cancelled. If it offers significant economic benefits without compromising national security, the exemption may be extended or even made permanent..
