Last year, Malaysia was the country with the highest number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand. To entice more Malaysian visitors, Thailand has waived the need for a visa. T.M.6 at certain checkpoints. This initiative has proved fruitful, as the exemption has led to an increase in tourist arrivals from Malaysia.
What is the T.M.6 form?
The T.M.6 form is a departure and arrival card for people entering Thailand, abolished except in the case of overland entries from the south of the country. Travelers crossing Thailand's land borders must fill in a T.M.6 form and keep it with them until they leave. Those who lose this form risk a heavy fine from Thai Immigration when leaving the country.
Exemption from T.M.6 form for Malaysian travellers entering by road
In the near future, Malaysian motorists and motorcyclists entering Thailand from Malaysia will no longer need to stop at checkpoints to fill in these forms, saving time and improving efficiency.
The history of this new regulation goes back to last year, when the Thai government temporarily relinquished, via the Sadao checkpoint in SongkhlaThis requirement for Malaysian residents has resulted in record numbers, with nearly 30,000 visitors each weekend taking to the roads of Thailand!
