The National Migration Service is already developing registration and data management systems, which are regularly updated to meet these new needs.

An expected relaxation for travellers

Until now, obtaining a visa for Turkmenistan has been a complex procedure. In Turkmenistan, visas are generally issued by a local entity, the application is made at an embassy or consulate, and processing times vary widely. This situation makes the Turkmen visa one of the most difficult to obtain in the region. The introduction of an online application platform would therefore represent a major step forward, considerably easing formalities for international visitors.

A regional context conducive to mobility

This initiative is part of a regional dynamics where several of Turkmenistan's neighbors - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - have already adopted electronic visa systems. Discussions are also underway to introduce an electronic visa. single visa for the whole of Central AsiaThe aim is to stimulate tourism and facilitate the movement of people.
