Free transport for Euro 2024 ticket holders in Germany

To encourage a sustainable and environmentally friendly mode of transport, UEFA has reached an agreement with the German public transport association, VDV to offer fans free 36-hour journeys on the transport network during upcoming matches for Germany's Euro 2024.

UEFA and VDV reach agreement for greener transport

UEFA and the VDV have signed an agreement enabling ticket holders for matches in the Euro 2024 final tournament to benefit from a special pass to travel free of charge for 36 hours in all the tournament's host cities in Germany. Supporters will be able to use regional trains, buses, streetcars, bicycles and certain ferry passes at no extra cost. These passes will be available from 06:00 on the morning of the match day until 18:00 the following day.

Take advantage of this offer in the run-up to the tournament

  • Ticket holders will receive detailed information before the start of the tournament on how to obtain this free transport pass.
  • This initiative aims to encourage spectators to use public transport rather than travelling by car, thus reducing their environmental impact.

According to the VDV, around 70% of fans travelling to the stadiums during Euro-2024 are expected to use public transport to get around.

A model similar to Euro-2020

UEFA has already introduced a similar offer for Euro-2020. In four cities hosting the tournament, match ticket holders enjoyed free access to public transport for a certain period. The adoption of this measure for Euro 2024 underlines UEFA's desire to continue promoting more sustainable and environmentally-friendly lifestyles and transport in the context of its competitions.

Ten host cities for an environmentally-friendly tournament

The UEFA Euro 2024 European Championship will be hosted by Germany with no fewer than 10 different host cities: Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Dรผsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund. To enable the many soccer fans who will be attending the tournament to take full advantage of this free transport offer :

  • Special facilities will be put in place to facilitate the influx of visitors linked to the tournament.
  • Fans will be able to discover the cultural and architectural wealth of the host cities while benefiting from this unique and practical travel offer.

First meetings scheduled for June 14, 2024

As a reminder, the Euro 2024 tournament will kick off in Munich on June 14 with a month of competition before the grand final in Berlin a month later. It is therefore essential for the organizers and municipalities involved to prepare this major sporting event in line with current ecological requirements.
