Uzbekistan recently revised its passport validity requirements for travelers from visa-exempt countries. Prior to this change, it was sufficient for travelers' passports to be valid on the date of entry into Uzbek territory. However, passports are now required to be valid at least 6 months after the date of departure from Uzbekistan.
Important change in passport validity requirements
Until now, nationals of several countries, including France, Germany, the UK, the USA, etc., could enter Uzbekistan without a visa for stays of up to 30 days, provided their passport was valid at the time of entry.
In other words, the passport only had to be valid on arrival in the country. However, under the new rule, passports must now be valid for at least 6 months. beyond departure date of Uzbekistan. This means that passengers leaving the country on July 1 must ensure that their passports do not expire before January 2 of the following year.
Why the change?
The introduction of this requirement is designed to enhance security and harmonize standards with international practices. The measure also makes it possible to better manage the flow of travelers by ensuring that those staying in Uzbekistan have valid travel documents for a sufficiently long period after their departure, thus avoiding potential problems in the event of an unforeseen extension of their stay or the need for additional documents on their departure.
