No more quarantine on arrival in China

China is often considered the barometer of international travel. In fact, it's good news that this country, which has been closed to travellers for almost 3 years, is now open to the world. The Chinese government put an end to compulsory quarantine on arrival in the country on January 8, according to health authorities.

As of today, only a negative test less than 48 hours old will be required to enter China. These changes follow the lifting in early December of most anti-Covid measures in force since 2020.

China stopped issuing tourist visas nearly three years ago, and international air links have been drastically reduced. According to data from the Chinese Ministry of Tourism, the number of international travelers arriving in China fell by 85% in 2020.

There National Health Commission has announced that it will no longer publish daily COVID-19 figures, without giving any explanation. This comes after the company abandoned the strict health measures of its "zero COVID" policy in December.
