The Russian Foreign Ministry is to provide reports to the President by June 1 on preparations for the resumption of unified electronic visas for citizens of 52 countries.
The director of Rostourism, Zarina Doguzova, proposed this takeover in 2022and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the government of the Russian Federation should work with other departments to propose the renewal of e-visas for foreign citizens not on the list of states committing hostile acts against Russia (probably including all European nationalities).
The report is to be submitted to the President by June 1, 2023. The unified e-Visa will be valid throughout Russia.
Against the backdrop of Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, the application of international sanctions against the country, and the tightening of criminal law, it is important to be even more vigilant. The Russian authorities have announced a partial military mobilization to support their invasion of Ukraine, and police are carrying out spot checks on identity and electronic devices (telephones, computers).
Travel to and from Russia is severely hampered by the closure of airspace between Russia and European Union member states. The whole of Russia is off-limits to Westerners, unless there is a compelling reason to do so.
On the health front, all travelers are subject to a random COVID-19 test on arrival, and undergo health checks on arrival, such as temperature checks and visual assessment. Further health tests may be required for those showing symptoms of COVID-19. They must also complete a "travel form"before their arrival. This form will be given to them on their flight to Russia.
