In an announcement today, the Rwandan President Paul Kagame informed that any African can now travel to Rwanda without having to pay for a visa. This is part of Africa's ongoing efforts to facilitate the free movement of people and trade on the continent.
An initiative to promote African tourism
At the 23rd World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Summit in Kigali, Paul Kagame stressed the importance of developing tourism in Africa.. Indeed, it is banking on partnerships with organizations such as the WTTC to make Africa a leading global tourist destination.
The Rwandan president also stressed that tourism is a key factor in his country's economic growth, and is helping to heal the wounds caused by the genocide that took place almost 30 years ago. He expressed his confidence in Africa's potential as a unified tourist destination, and invited tourists from the continent and other parts of the world to come and discover its rich culture and breathtaking landscapes.

By allowing any African to travel to Rwanda without a visa fee, this country becomes the 4th African state to authorize visa-free or visa-free travel for citizens of other African countries, after Seychelles, Benin and Gambia..
