Rwanda opens up to tourism with new visa regime

Finally, some good news for the tourism sector, whose formalities have been turned upside down in recent weeks with the spread of Covid-19.

Rwanda, nicknamed the "Land of a Thousand Hills", is a country of a thousand hills.East Africa which has one of the most open visa policies on the African continent. In particular, it offers free visas on arrival for citizens of all countries for a period of 30 days (equivalent to a visa exemption). The countries concerned include many members of the African Union, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and the Commonwealth.

Rwanda's new visa regime came into force as soon as it was published. Our aim? To welcome international travelers in the best possible conditions. 87 countries involved by this free 30-day visa on arrival.

Tourism is a growing industry in Rwanda and represents a major source of revenue for the country. For several years now, Rwanda has been striving to develop sustainable tourism that emphasizes nature conservation, preservation of local culture and community economic development.

The country has a rich natural diversity, including national parks home to iconic species such as mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants, lions and leopards. In addition, Rwanda boasts a rich traditional culture, with traditional dances, songs and folk stories.

Tourism in Rwanda has developed around a number of attractions that are attracting more and more travelers.
